Family of Late Mr. S.M. Khan meets President of India, announces setting up of Foundation in his Honour।

New Delhi : The family of late S.M. Khan, a distinguished Indian Information Service officer, met with the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu and expressed their gratitude to the Hon’ble President for her support in this difficult time.

The Honourable President extended her deep sympathies to the family and acknowledged Mr.

S.M. Khan’s contributions to public service. During the meeting, the family informed the President about the establishment of the ‘S.M. Khan Foundation’ a non-profit organization committed to advancing education, improving access to medical care, and fostering community development.

The foundation aims to honour Mr. Khan’s lifelong dedication to public service and his commitment to societal progress.

The Honourable President of India encouraged and motivated the family members for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of such measures in creating a positive and lasting impact on society.

“We are deeply touched by the President’s kind words and the overwhelming affection received

from across the different sections of the society” said Shehnaz Khan, wife of Mr. SM Khan.

“The S.M. Khan Foundation will uphold his values and work tirelessly to create opportunities

for the underserved, particularly in education, medical and community development”, she

added.

Mr. S.M. Khan passed away on November 17, 2024, in Delhi after a brief illness. His passing

was deeply mourned by a diverse range of leaders and dignitaries, including the Prime Minister

of India, former President and Vice President, former Prime Minister, former Chief Ministers,

Union Ministers, and prominent social leaders. Many expressed their profound sorrow and

shared personal anecdotes reflecting on his remarkable contributions.

S.M. Khan’s career spanned over three decades, during which he held prominent positions in

the Government of India, including Spokesperson for the Central Bureau of Investigation

(CBI), Press Secretary to President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Director General of Doordarshan

News. As an author, he penned a book on President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s and also served as

an Education as Dean at Jamia Hamdard University. He also held the position of Vice President

and Trustee at the India Islamic and Cultural Centre.

The S.M. Khan Foundation will officially launch in the coming months, with initial initiatives

aimed at empowering communities through educational scholarships, medical aid and social welfare projects.
