New Delhi: The All India Milli Council (AIMC), New Delhi, has expressed grave concern over reports of missile and drone attacks allegedly targeting the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, attributed to the Houthi movement, also known as Ansar Allah.
In a strongly worded statement, the Council condemned any hostile action directed against the two sacred cities, describing such threats as deeply disturbing and an affront to the religious sentiments of Muslims across the world.
The Council emphasised that Makkah and Madinah hold an unparalleled position in the hearts of Muslims. Makkah is home to the Holy Kaaba, the Qibla towards which Muslims turn in prayer, while Madinah is the blessed city of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
“These sacred cities are not merely geographical locations but the spiritual centres of the Muslim Ummah and enduring symbols of faith, devotion, peace and universal brotherhood,” the Council stated.
Highlighting the importance of protecting religious sanctity, the All India Milli Council asserted that the safety and security of holy places must be respected under all circumstances.
The Council maintained that any action endangering civilian lives, threatening pilgrims and residents, or compromising the sanctity of places of exceptional religious significance is unacceptable and deserves unequivocal condemnation.
It further stressed that no political objective, military consideration or regional rivalry could justify actions that place innocent civilians at risk or threaten sacred religious sites.
Appeal for Restraint and International Intervention
Expressing concern over escalating tensions in the region, the Council called upon all parties involved in the conflict to exercise maximum restraint, avoid further escalation and seek peaceful solutions through dialogue and diplomacy.
It also urged the international community and relevant international organisations to take appropriate measures to safeguard the sanctity, security and peaceful environment of Makkah and Madinah and prevent any recurrence of such incidents.
The Council reiterated that lasting peace and stability in the region are essential not only for the safety and well-being of its people but also for the broader interests of humanity.
“Religious sites must remain places of worship, reflection and spiritual solace, free from the dangers of armed conflict,” the statement emphasised.
The statement was issued by Shaikh Nizamuddin, Assistant General Secretary, All India Milli Council, New Delhi, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to peace, religious harmony and the protection of sacred places.
